This formula treats consumptive conditions with qi and blood deficiency affecting the Heart and Lungs. In Heart deficiency, symptoms include palpitations with anxiety, irritability, insomnia, shortness of breath, emaciation, dry mouth and throat, pale shiny tongue, and a weak or irregular pulse. In Lung deficiency, it addresses coughing (frothy or blood-streaked sputum), shortness of breath, spontaneous sweating, dry throat, constipation, heat from deficiency, and a rapid, deficient pulse. The formula nourishes qi and blood, calms the spirit, and moistens dryness.
