Xiao Feng San is a sophisticated multi-layered formula designed to address the complexity of skin inflammation.
Jing Jie, Fang Feng, Niu Bang Zi, and Chan Tui are the Chiefs; they "disperse wind" from the skin surface to stop the itch and vent pathogens.
Cang Zhu, Ku Shen, and Mu Tong act as the "Damp-Clearers"; they dry the weeping lesions and drain damp-heat through the urine.
Shi Gao and Zhi Mu clear the internal heat and fire that causes redness and burning sensations.
Sheng Di and Dang Gui nourish the Blood and Yin. In TCM, "to treat Wind, first treat the Blood; once the Blood moves, the Wind will die away."
Hei Zhi Ma (Black Sesame) specifically moistens the skin from within to prevent the drying herbs from causing flaking.
Gan Cao harmonizes and detoxifies.
STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED during pregnancy (due to its moving and draining nature).
Use with caution in patients with Qi and Blood Deficiency without significant damp-heat.
Not for use in cases of Dry Eczema with pale skin and no redness/heat.
