Description
Xiang Su San addresses a pattern where external wind-cold combines with pre-existing Qi stagnation, especially affecting the chest and middle burner. When Qi does not flow smoothly, an external pathogen can more easily lodge and create discomfort.
Xiang Fu (Cyperi Rhizoma) – regulates Liver Qi, relieves emotional constraint, and alleviates chest and abdominal distension.
Zi Su Ye (Perillae Folium) – releases the exterior, disperses wind-cold, and harmonizes the middle burner.
Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) – regulates Qi, improves digestion, and reduces fullness.
Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix) – harmonizes the formula, supports Qi, and moderates the actions of the other herbs.
Together, the formula gently releases the exterior while restoring the smooth movement of Qi, making it particularly effective for mild colds accompanied by digestive discomfort and emotional tension.
