PLANT DESCRIPTION

Fever-Breaking Decoction
This is a modified formula based on Xiao Chai Hu Tang. It is a formula for viral influenza. It has the function to break a fever and promote sweating by cooling and acridity. It is applicable to those with upper respiratory tract infection，and unabated fever after sweating has occurred.

Formula Composition

  • Chai Hu（Radix Bupleuri），40g

  • Huang Qin（Radix Scutellariae），15g

  • [Sheng］ Gan Cao（Radix Glycyrrhizae Cruda），10g

  • Lian Qiao（Fructus Forsythiae），50g
TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Decoction
Place the medicinals in 1000 mL water and boil until 500 mL remains. Take 100-150 mL of the decoction every 2 to 3 hours. Reduce the dosage by half for children.

Suitable Diseases and Conditions

Viral influenza with persistent heat effusion，sweating that fails to discharge completely，reddish complexion，generalized heat，sore throat，cough，or headache.

Cautions

Once sweating occurs and the fever declines，one should stop consuming this formula. If sweating does not occur after 3 doses，another formula should be considered.
