PLANT DESCRIPTION

This is a formula for late-stage diabetes. It has the function to protect blood vessels，nourish yin，and invigorate blood. It is applicable to peripheral artery disease in the lower limbs and thrombotic diseases.

Formula Composition

  • Chi Shao（Radix Paeoniae Rubra），30g

  • Shi Hu（Herba Debdrobii），30g

  • Huai Niu Xi（Radix Achyranthis Bidentatae），30g

  • Dan Shen（Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae），20g
TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Decoction
Place the medicinals in 1100 mL water and boil until 300 mL remains. Take the decoction warm，in 2 to 3 doses.

Suitable Diseases and Conditions

Diabetic foot，diabetic nephropathy，deep vein thrombosis of lower limbs，and fracture of lower limbs that cause lumbar pain and weakness，lower limb pain，numbness，cramps，and puffy swelling.


Modifications

  1. For emaciated physique，cramps in lower limbs，dry and bound stool，combine with Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang.
  2. For obese physique，soft abdomen，numbness in four limbs，copious sweating，and puffy swelling，combine with Huang Qi Gui Zhi Wu Wu Tang.
  3. For dry and scaly skin in the lower limbs that resembles snakeskin，or thrombosis，combine with Gui Zhi Fu Ling Wan.

Cautions

This formula invigorates blood and eliminate blood stasis.It primarily treats diseases with blood stasis，such as pain in the waist and lower limbs.Use with caution for those without blood stasis.
