Da Zao (Ziziphus jujuba)

Granules: 3 to 9g per day, divided into two or three doses.
Note: Best taken warm to support the "warming" nature of the herbs. For acute wheezing, it can be taken more frequently in smaller sips.
She Gan Ma Huang Tang addresses the root cause of "Lung-Cold" by warming the interior and diffusing the exterior.
She Gan is the Chief; it specifically targets the throat, clearing phlegm and resolving the "rattling" sound of wheezing.
Zi Wan and Kuan Dong Hua are a classic pairing for chronic or acute cough; they moisten the Lungs and descend the rebellious Qi without being too drying.
Ban Xia and Sheng Jiang transform the thin, watery phlegm and stop nausea or "cold" rising in the stomach.
Wu Wei Zi is the "Anchor"; it prevents the pungent, dispersing herbs (Ma Huang, Xi Xin) from over-depleting the Lung Qi by astringing it slightly.
Da Zao harmonizes the formula and protects the stomach.
STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED for Heat-Wheezing (yellow phlegm, red tongue, rapid fever).
Not for use in cases of Yin Deficiency with Dry Cough.
