Symptoms

Urinary Dysfunction: Frequent urination (especially at night), urinary urgency, incontinence, or "cloudy" urine (like rice water).

Cognitive/Emotional: Disorientation, forgetfulness, poor concentration, and a "foggy" mind.

Psychological: Anxiety, palpitations, and vivid dreaming or insomnia.

Posology

Granules: 3 to 9g per day, divided into two doses.

Note: Traditionally taken before bedtime to support the Kidney's "astringent" function and the Heart's "settling" during sleep.

Description

Sang Piao Xiao San addresses the "communication failure" between the Heart (Fire) and the Kidney (Water).

Sang Piao Xiao is the Chief; it strongly tonifies the Kidney Yang and astringes the Essence to stop leaking and stabilize the bladder.

Long Gu and Gui Ban act as Deputies; they "anchor" the floating Yang and nourish the Yin, helping to stop leakage while calming the Shen (Spirit).

Ren Shen and Dang Gui nourish the Qi and Blood, providing the foundation for the Heart and Kidney to function.

Fu Shen, Yuan Zhi, and Shi Chang Pu form a powerful trio for the Spirit; they open the "orifices" of the Heart, transform phlegm-dampness that clouds the mind, and restore the communication link between the Heart and Kidney.

Contraindications

STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED for Damp-Heat in the Lower Burner (dark, painful, burning urination).

Do not use in cases of Excessive Fire due to Yin Deficiency (night sweats, very red tongue).

Use with caution in patients with active infections (external syndromes).
