This condition involves Lung atrophy from heat, often caused by Stomach heat rising and damaging Lung yin. The result is coughing, wheezing, and difficult phlegm, along with dry throat, mouth, and tongue, and a deficient, rapid pulse. The Lungs lose moisture because the Stomach fails to nourish them, leading to rebellious qi, dryness, and heat symptoms. This pattern reflects yin deficiency of both the Lungs and Stomach.

The chief herb, Ophiopogonis Radix (mai men dong), clears deficiency heat and generates fluids. Ginseng Radix (ren shen) strengthens qi and yin, forming a key pair with the chief herb. Rice, Jujube, and Licorice further tonify the Stomach and aid fluid production. Pinelliae Rhizoma preparatum (zhi ban xia) helps direct qi downward and balance the moistening herbs, ensuring smooth qi and fluid circulation between the Stomach and Lungs.
