Ma Zi Ren Wan nourishes Yin, moistens the intestines, and promotes smooth bowel movements. It is indicated for dry constipation due to Yin or fluid deficiency, often with heat signs, dry stools, or difficulty passing stools.

This formula addresses intestinal dryness and Heat from deficiency, often in the Spleen and Stomach. It combines herbs that moisten, lubricate, and gently move Qi to restore normal bowel function while protecting the body’s fluids.

Description
Huo Ma Ren is the chief herb, nourishing Yin and moistening the intestines to ease constipation.
Xing Ren assists the downward movement of Qi and smooths passage of stool.
Bai Shao nourishes fluids, softens the Liver, and alleviates spasms or cramping in the abdominal region.
Zhi Shi regulates and directs Qi downward, helping relieve fullness and constipation caused by Qi stagnation.
Da Huang purges heat and facilitates bowel movements, clearing accumulated heat in the intestines.
Hou Po moves Qi, relieves bloating, and prevents stagnation from accompanying constipation.
Honey harmonizes the formula, lubricates the intestines, and ensures gentle action.
Together, these herbs moisten, move, and harmonize to relieve constipation safely, particularly in individuals with dry stools, Yin deficiency, or Heat accumulation in the intestines.
Granules
3 to 9g per day after main meals, diluted in hot water.
Raw Herbs
Boil in 1000–1200ml of water and drink 1 to 3 cups per day.
Contraindications
Not recommended for patients with diarrhea from Cold Spleen deficiency
Avoid use during pregnancy without professional supervision
Not suitable for acute constipation caused by external pathogens or damp-cold
