Description
Huan Shao Dan is designed to "Refill the Reservoir." In TCM, we are born with a fixed amount of Pre-Natal Jing. Once it’s gone, life ends. This formula works to conserve what remains and supplement it through the "Post-Natal" support of the Spleen and Kidneys.
Shu Di, Gou Qi Zi, and Shan Zhu Yu: These are the "Yin-Essence" anchors. They provide the physical "juice" and dark, rich nutrients needed to restore marrow, blood, and fluids.
Ba Ji Tian, Rou Cong Rong, and Tu Si Zi: These are the "Yang-Essence" catalysts. They provide the "Pilot Light" that warms the essence, ensuring the body can actually use the nutrients provided by the Yin herbs.
Du Zhong and Niu Xi: These are "Structural" guides. They strengthen the tendons and bones, specifically directing the tonic energy to the lumbar spine and knees.
Shan Yao and Fu Ling: These support the Spleen. Because Essence tonics are "cloying" (heavy and sticky), these herbs ensure the digestion is strong enough to absorb the formula.
Ze Xie: A tiny addition to ensure that "Damp-Turbidity" doesn't build up from taking such a rich, tonifying formula over a long period.
Cautions
Strictly contraindicated for Acute Infections (colds, flus, or fevers). Taking tonics while sick can "lock the thief in the house," making the infection last longer. Not for use in cases of Excess Heat or Severe Digestive Stagnation. Because of its rich nature, if you experience bloating or loose stools, the dose should be reduced. Consult a practitioner before use.
