Symptoms

Wheezing & Dyspnea: Labored breathing accompanied by a distinct whistling, rattling, or gurgling sound in the throat, often aggravated by cold exposure or exertion.

Cough: Persistent cough producing thick, copious white or yellowish sputum that is difficult to expectorate.

Chest Sensation: Fullness, tightness, or a suffocating sensation in the chest due to trapped phlegm and constrained Lung Qi.

Exterior Signs: Aversion to cold, mild fever, headache, or general body aches (concurrent exterior Wind-Cold with interior Phlegm-Heat).

Tongue: Red or pale-red body with a thick, white or yellow, greasy or slippery coating.

Pulse: Floating (Fu) and slippery (Hua), or wiry (Xian) and rapid (Shu).

Description

Ding Chuan Tang (Arrest Wheezing Decoction) is a classical design specifically created to address constrained Lung Qi with interior phlegm accumulation, where rebellious Qi ascends, resulting in acute wheezing and dyspnea.

Bai Guo serves as the Chief herb; it possesses a astringent and descending nature that directly stops wheezing, stabilizes Lung Qi, and eliminates sticky phlegm without harming the body's primary Qi.

Zi Su Zi acts as the crucial Deputy; it forcefully directs rebellious Lung Qi downward, relaxes bronchial spasms, and transforms phlegm to instantly relieve the sensation of chest fullness.

Gan Cao Sheng harmonizes the formula, clears mild heat in the throat and lungs, and protects the stomach lining against irritation.

Posology

Granules: 3 to 9g daily, divided into 2–3 doses, taken with warm water.

Raw Plants: Decoct in 800ml of water. Drink 1 to 3 cups per day. In acute asthma attacks, the dose is often concentrated and taken warm.

Spoons:
Our measuring spoons have an approximate capacity of 0.50 g. This should be taken into consideration when following the recommended dosage instructions for each product.

Contraindications

STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED for long-term continuous use without modification due to the mild toxicity of raw Bai Guo (Ginkgo seeds).

Do not use in cases of severe Yin Deficiency with dry, non-productive cough and blood-streaked sputum.

Not suitable for wheezing caused purely by Kidney Yang deficiency (failure to grasp Qi) without phlegm accumulation.
