Symptoms

Strong fever and chills with an absolute absence of sweating.

Extreme irritability and restlessness (Fan Zao)—the patient cannot find a comfortable position.

Severe body aches and joint pain.

Heaviness of the body.

Lack of thirst (or only slight thirst).

Possible wheezing or a tight cough.

Tongue: Slightly red body with a thin white or slightly yellow coating.

Pulse: Floating (Fu), tight (Jin), and forceful.

Gui Zhi (Cinnamomum cassia)
Raw herbs 9.8g Granules

Zhi Gan Cao (Glycyrrhiza uralensis)

Xing Ren (Prunus armeniaca)

Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum)

Posology

Granules
3 to 9g per day after main meals, diluted in hot water.

Raw Herbs
Boil in 1000–1200ml of water and drink 1 to 3 cups per day.

Description

Da Qing Long Tang is a powerful diaphoretic strategy. Shi Gao acts as the internal "fire extinguisher" to clear the heat trapped inside.

Gui Zhi work together to strongly induce sweating and expel Wind-Cold from the muscle layer and skin.

Shi Gao clears the constrained heat from the interior, which is the primary cause of the patient's extreme restlessness (Fan Zao).

Xing Ren descendes Lung Qi and addressing wheezing.

Sheng Jiang and Da Zao protect the Stomach and Spleen, ensuring the strong exterior-releasing herbs don't damage the Middle Burner.

Zhi Gan Cao harmonizes the formula and protects fluids.

Contraindications

Strictly contraindicated for patients with a weak pulse, spontaneous sweating, or aversion to cold without fever.

Use with extreme caution in the elderly, children, or those with heart conditions.

Do not use in cases of Yin deficiency or Blood deficiency.

Discontinue immediately once sweating occurs.
