Description

Da Qin Jiao Tang is a comprehensive strategy that addresses Wind invading the channels when the body's protective systems are weak. Unlike simpler Wind-clearing formulas, this one treats the "root" (Blood deficiency) and the "branch" (Wind invasion) simultaneously.

Qin Jiao is the chief; it is unique because it dispels Wind-Damp without being overly drying, and it specifically relaxes the tendons.

Qiang Huo, Du Huo, Fang Feng, and Bai Zhi form a "Wind-Expelling army," each targeting different parts of the body and channels (upper body, lower body, and surface).

Si Wu Tang (Dang Gui, Chuan Xiong, Bai Shao, Shu Di) provides the Blood-nourishing base. TCM theory states: "To treat Wind, first treat the Blood; once Blood moves, the Wind will disappear."

Shi Gao and Huang Qin clear any Heat generated by the stagnant Wind or the formula's pungent nature.

Contraindications

Contraindicated for patterns of Internal Wind caused by Liver Yang Rising (High blood pressure, red eyes, sudden loss of consciousness without exterior symptoms).

Not suitable for patients with severe Yin deficiency.

Caution: Contains pungent and drying herbs; monitor patients for signs of dryness (thirst, dry skin).

HEALTH Characteristics

This formula treats wind obstructing the channels by dispelling wind, unblocking circulation, nourishing blood, and supporting qi. The chief herb, Gentianae macrophyllae Radix (qin jiao), clears wind and restores flow to the sinews, while deputies like qiang huo, du huo, fang feng, xi xin, and bai zhi target specific channels to remove obstruction.

Supporting herbs nourish the blood, strengthen qi, and clear heat caused by wind, ensuring the body is protected from dryness and damage. Glycyrrhizae Radix harmonizes all actions, making the formula balanced and effective.
