DESCRIPTION

Purges clumped heat in Intestines. Cools blood, removes blood stasis. Stops bleeding (charred). Accumulated obstruction due to heat from excess; constipation due to clumped heat in Intestines; damp-heat affecting the middle and lower burners. Heat from excess in blood level; blood stasis; bleeding due to reckless movement of hot blood. Blood in the stool from bleeding hemorrhoids or heat in the Intestines.

Characteristics: Strong downward-draining herb (purgative in raw form; milder when prepared). Especially useful in blood stasis-related conditions when prepared. Preparation reduces its purgative effect and enhances blood-moving action.


Cautions: Contraindicated during pregnancy (can stimulate uterine contractions). Avoid in cases of cold from deficiency or weak digestion (Spleen/Stomach deficiency cold).
