Symptoms
Severe constipation (stools are dry, hard, and difficult to pass).
Intense abdominal pain and distension that worsens with pressure.
High fever or "tidal fever" (fever that peaks in the afternoon).
Irritability, restlessness, or even delirium in extreme cases of heat.
Constant thirst for cold drinks.
Focal fullness and a hard sensation upon palpation of the abdomen.
Tongue: Red body with a thick, dry, yellow or even black coating with "prickles".
Pulse: Deep (Chen), forceful (Shi), and rapid (Shuo).

Posology
Granules: 3 to 6g per dose. Importante: Deve ser tomada apenas até que ocorra a evacuação; assim que o intestino funcionar, a toma deve ser interrompida.
Raw Herbs: Decocção específica (o Da Huang é adicionado no fim e o Mang Xiao é dissolvido no líquido já coado).
Description
Da Cheng Qi Tang is the most powerful purgative strategy in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is designed to "order the Qi" by removing the massive obstruction caused by dry stool and internal fire.
Da Huang is the chief; it purges heat and moves the bowels.
Mang Xiao (Glauber's Salt) acts as the deputy; it is a saline laxative that softens hard stool by drawing water into the intestines.
Zhi Shi breaks up stagnant Qi and reduces focal fullness (Pi).
Hou Po moves Qi and eliminates abdominal distension (Man).
Together, these four ingredients perform the "four actions": clearing heat, breaking up accumulation, softening hardness, and moving the bowels.
Contraindications
Strictly contraindicated during pregnancy
Contraindicated for elderly, very weak patients, or those with Spleen/Stomach Deficiency.
Not for use in patients with diarrhea or small, watery stools without hardness.
Caution:
Long-term use is prohibited; it is a short-term, acute-intervention formula.
