Ba Wei Di Huang Wan is a classical formula in pill form that strengthens Kidney Yang while preserving Kidney Yin and Essence. It is used in cases of Kidney Yang deficiency characterized by cold sensations, fatigue, and impaired fluid metabolism, supporting both root deficiency and functional balance of the lower burner.

Ba Wei Di Huang Wan is a time-tested pill formula that adapts the principles of Liu Wei Di Huang Tang to specifically address Kidney Yang deficiency. By balancing the warming effects of Yang with the nourishing properties of Yin, this formula helps restore lower burner function, optimize fluid metabolism, and strengthen overall vitality. The combination of carefully sourced herbs ensures gentle yet effective support for Kidney function, making it ideal for those experiencing cold, weakness, or fluid imbalance associated with Yang deficiency.

Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata) – Acts as the foundation of the formula by deeply nourishing Kidney Yin and replenishing Essence. It supports the production of marrow and strengthens overall vitality, providing a vital Yin anchor to balance the warming herbs.

Shan Zhu Yu (Corni Fructus) – Stabilizes the Kidneys and preserves Essence, particularly supporting reproductive and urinary function. It acts as a consolidating agent, preventing leakage of vital fluids and reinforcing the Kidney root.

Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) – Strengthens both Spleen and Kidneys, harmonizing digestive and urinary functions. It regulates fluid metabolism and supports energy transformation, complementing Shu Di Huang in maintaining the balance of Yin and Yang.

Fu Ling (Poria) – Enhances Spleen function while draining dampness gently, promoting efficient fluid transformation and preventing lower burner stagnation. It ensures that the nourishing herbs do not contribute to fluid accumulation while maintaining digestive balance.

Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex) – Clears lingering heat from Yin-deficient Kidneys without injuring Yin. This herb protects against overheating and prevents imbalance when Kidney Yang is being warmed, maintaining the integrity of Yin while allowing Yang to function optimally.

Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma) – Supports Kidney-mediated fluid regulation by promoting urination and draining excess water. It ensures that the body’s water pathways function efficiently, reducing edema and supporting lower burner harmony.

Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) – Warms Kidney Yang, invigorates the lower burner, and restores the transformative functions of the Kidneys. It acts as the warming catalyst, stimulating Yang without consuming Yin, creating a gentle yet effective balance.

Posology

Granules 
3 to 9g per day after main meals, diluted in hot water.

Raw Plants
Boil in 1000 or 1200ml of water and drink 1 to 3 cups per day.

Spoons:
Our measuring spoons have an approximate capacity of 0.50 g. This should be taken into consideration when following the recommended dosage instructions for each product.

Contraindications

Not suitable for cases with pronounced Yin deficiency and heat signs.

Should only be used when Kidney Yang deficiency is clearly diagnosed.

Use caution in individuals with excessive internal heat or Yin depletion.
