Symptoms

Lower back pain and weakness in the knees (chronic).

Aversion to cold and cold extremities.

Fatigue and a lack of vitality or "drive."

Frequent, clear urination (especially at night).

Posology

Granules
3 to 9g per day after main meals, diluted in hot water.

Description

You Gui Yin is a refinement of Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (plus warming herbs). It focuses on the "Gate of Vitality" without the "Blood-moving" or "heavy glue" components found in the Wan (Pill) version.

Rou Gui is the primary warming agents that rekindle the Ming Men Fire.

Shu Di, Shan Yao, and Shan Zhu Yu (the "Three Tonics") provide the foundation for Yin, Essence, and Qi.

Gou Qi Zi and Du Zhong specifically target the Liver and Kidney to strengthen the sinews, bones, and lower back.

Zhi Gan Cao harmonizes the formula and supports the Spleen/Middle Burner.

Contraindications

Contraindicated for Yin Deficiency with Heat (empty-heat signs like night sweats).

Not for use during acute flu or cold (Exterior syndromes).

Not suitable for patterns of Damp-Heat.
