Tiao Wei Cheng Qi Tang is designed to clear heat from the Stomach and Intestines, gently purge accumulation, and moisten dryness. It is traditionally used for mild Yang Ming heat patterns with constipation, irritability, and abdominal fullness.

Description
Tiao Wei Cheng Qi Tang addresses heat accumulation in the Yang Ming organs that dries fluids and obstructs the intestines. Compared to stronger purgative formulas, it is milder and focuses on clearing heat while moistening dryness.
Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) – chief herb; clears heat and drains accumulation through the bowels.
Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas) – softens hardness, draws moisture into the intestines, and assists bowel movement.
Gan Cao (Zhi) (Glycyrrhizae Radix preparata) – harmonizes the formula, protects the middle burner, and moderates the harsh purgative effects.
Together, the formula clears internal heat, restores intestinal moisture, and regulates bowel function, supporting a balanced elimination process without excessive depletion.
Posology
Granules
3–9g daily, divided into 1–2 doses, taken warm.
Raw Herbs
Boil 600–800ml of water down to 250–300ml; drink once daily or as directed.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in pregnancy.
Not suitable for constipation due to Qi deficiency or cold patterns.
Use caution in weak or elderly patients.
