Description
Tao He Cheng Qi Tang addresses blood stasis lodged in the lower burner with concurrent heat and bowel obstruction. When stagnant blood combines with heat, it can create painful abdominal fullness and constipation.
Tao Ren (Persicae Semen) – chief herb; breaks up blood stasis and promotes circulation, especially in the lower abdomen.
Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) – purges heat accumulation through the bowels and assists in eliminating stasis.
Mang Xiao (Natrii Sulfas) – softens hardness and moistens the intestines, enhancing the purgative effect.
Gui Zhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) – warms and unblocks the channels, helping move blood and relieve pain.
Gan Cao (Zhi) (Glycyrrhizae Radix preparata) – harmonizes the formula and moderates the strong purgative action.
Together, the formula moves blood, clears heat, and restores bowel function, addressing both stagnation and accumulation in a balanced manner.
