This pattern involves bleeding from the upper burner due to heat in the blood, often from yin deficiency and excess yang. Symptoms include coughing, spitting, or vomiting blood, nosebleeds, dry mouth and throat, a red tongue, and a wiry, rapid pulse. The heat drives the blood recklessly from the vessels, while fluid depletion causes dryness.

The chief herb, Platycladi Cacumen (ce bai ye), cools the blood and stops bleeding, supported by Rehmanniae Radix (sheng di huang), which clears heat and nourishes yin. Nelumbinis Folium (he ye) clears heat, cools blood, and disperses stasis, while Artemisiae argyi Folium (ai ye) provides warmth to prevent cold-induced stagnation. The formula balances cooling, dispersing, and warming to stop bleeding gently and safely.
