Symptoms

Core Issue: Shao Yin Stage Cold Transformation / Devastated Yang Qi with Severe Internal Cold.

Digestive: Clear, watery diarrhea with undigested food particles, severe abdominal pain, and vomiting or lack of metabolic capability.

Thermal Signs: Extreme cold in the extremities (frigid hands and feet extending past the wrists and ankles), severe aversion to cold, and a strong preference for thick blankets and hot drinks.

Vitality: Profound exhaustion, constant desire to sleep (somnolence), curling up in bed, and a pale, dull, or grayish complexion.

Tongue: Pale, moist, or swollen with a white, slippery coating.

Pulse: Faint and microscopic (Wei) or deep and extremely thin (Chen Xi), indicating near-collapse of Yang.

Posology

Granules

3g to 6g per day, divided into two doses.

Description

This simplified version focuses on rescuing Yang by deeply warming the Center, halting the progression of deep internal cold, and preventing the exhaustion of vital fire.

Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger) takes the leading role as the Chief; it is a potent thermal agent that expels deep-seated cold, warms the Middle Burner, and reactivates the dynamism of Yang.

Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Licorice) acts as the Deputy and Assistant; it tonifies Spleen Qi, harmonizes the action of Gan Jiang so that its heat is released sustainably, and protects internal fluids from excessive dryness.

Contraindications

STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED in cases of True Heat - False Cold (where internal heat traps Yang, mimicking cold extremities).

Do not use in cases of Yin Deficiency with Heat signs (night sweats, red tongue with no coating).

Use with caution during pregnancy due to the highly dynamic and hot nature of Gan Jiang.
