Description
Qiang Hou Sheng Shi Tang addresses wind-damp painful obstruction localized primarily in the greater yang channels and muscle layer. The formula focuses on expelling wind, dispelling dampness, and improving Qi and blood circulation to relieve pain and heaviness.
Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma seu Radix) targets the upper regions of the greater yang channel, expelling wind-dampness that causes headaches and shoulder/back stiffness.
Du Huo (Angelicae pubescentis Radix) acts on the lower reaches of the greater yang channel, alleviating lower back and leg pain.
Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) assist in releasing wind and dampness from the exterior, enhancing the chief herbs’ action on headaches and stiffness.
Chuan Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma) invigorates blood and treats headaches, supporting pain relief and Qi circulation.
Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix preparata) harmonizes the formula and moderates the combination of dispersing and warming herbs.
The formula is mildly diaphoretic, promoting superficial sweating to remove wind-damp while tonifying Qi subtly, making it especially suitable for cold-damp external invasion with musculoskeletal stiffness and pain.
