Description

Pai Nong San works by opening the "Qi mechanism" of the affected area to push toxins outward.

Zhi Shi is the Chief; it is a powerful "breaker" of stagnation. It moves the Qi downward and outward, breaking the hardness of the abscess and allowing the trapped fluids to mobilize.

Jie Geng acts as the Deputy; it "lifts" the Qi and guides the formula specifically to the surface of the skin or the Lungs. It is the premier herb for "venting" pus and toxic heat.

Bai Shao acts as the Assistant; it harmonizes the Blood and Ying (nutritive) levels, ensuring that the aggressive moving action of the other herbs doesn't damage the healthy tissues or fluids.

Contraindications

STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED for Chronic, "flat" sores (Yin-type sores) that are pale, cold, and lack pus/heat (use Yang He Tang instead).

Not for use in cases of severe Qi or Blood Deficiency where the body lacks the energy to push out the toxin.

Pregnancy: Generally contraindicated due to the strong "breaking" and downward-moving nature of Zhi Shi.

Discontinue use once the abscess has drained and the infection is under control.
