Symptoms

Severe Abdominal Pain: Sharp or cramping pain in the stomach and intestines that is significantly improved by a heating pad or hot drinks.

Chronic, Watery Diarrhea: Stools that are cold, undigested (Líng Gǔ Bù Huà), and occur without much odor.

Yang Collapse Signs: Cold hands and feet (reaching past the wrists/ankles), a constant desire to curl up in a ball, and an aversion to any cold draft.

Fluid Rebellion: Vomiting of clear, thin fluids or a complete inability to keep food down due to "Cold-Damp" stagnation.

Profound Exhaustion: A "grayish" complexion, weak voice, and a feeling of being "hollowed out."

Key Indicator: "Spleen-Stomach Yang Exhaustion"—where the Middle Burner has lost its ability to "cook" food into Qi, leading to a systemic shutdown of warmth.

Tongue: Very pale, swollen, and wet with a thick white coating;

Pulse: Deep, thin, and extremely slow (Chén Xì Chí).

Description

Fu Zi Li Zhong Tang is a "Fire-Starting" formula. It moves beyond simple tonification and enters the realm of Yang Rescue.

The Fuel (Gan Jiang): Dried Ginger is the "charcoal." It stays in the Middle Burner to provide long-lasting, steady warmth to the Spleen and Stomach.

The Engine (Ren Shen & Bai Zhu): Ren Shen provides the massive Qi boost needed to move the warmth, while Bai Zhu dries the internal "swamp" of dampness created by the lack of Yang.

The Anchor (Zhi Gan Cao): It harmonizes the formula and prevents the intense heat of Fu Zi and Ginger from agitating the Heart.

Posology

Granules: 3 to 9g daily, divided into 2 doses, taken with warm water.

Raw Plants: Decoct in 1000ml of water. 

Cautions

Strictly contraindicated for any Heat patterns (fever, thirst, red tongue) or Yin Deficiency. This formula is "pure fire"; giving it to a patient with heat-inflammation is highly dangerous.
