Bu Yin Tang is a comprehensive formula designed for deep systemic depletion of Liver and Kidney Yin accompanied by flaring Deficiency Fire, built with safeguards to protect the digestive system from becoming overwhelmed.
Shu Di Huang and Sheng Di Huang act as the powerful dual Chiefs; they deeply flood the Kidney Yin, cool the blood, and replenish depleted Essence (Jing).
Huang Bai and Zhi Mu clear the empty heat generated by this structural fluid loss, specifically draining "ministerial fire" downward to resolve night sweats and hot flashes.
Ren Shen, Dang Gui, and Bai Shao concurrently support Qi and Blood, following the clinical rule that "Blood is the mother of Yin"—building the fluids from multiple angles.
Du Zhong and Niu Xi direct the strengthening actions straight to the structural frame (tendons and bones), while Niu Xi helps physically steer floating heat away from the upper body.
Rou Gui and Bu Gu Zhi utilize the principle of "seeking Yin from within Yang." A micro-dose of these warming herbs sparks the dynamic transformation of fluids and anchors floating fire back to its source.
Chen Pi and Fu Ling serve a crucial anti-cloying role; they move Qi and drain dampness, ensuring these heavy, sticky Yin tonics do not stagnate in the stomach or cause digestive bloating.
Gan Cao harmonizes all 14 ingredients, balancing the freezing, draining, and deeply tonifying elements into a unified therapeutic delivery.
STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED for Spleen Deficiency presenting with weak digestion, bloating, loose stools, or chronic diarrhea.
Do not use during acute exterior phases (like a fresh cold or flu), as deep tonics can trap the pathogen inside the body.
Avoid in cases of true interior Excess Cold or thick Phlegm-Damp accumulation.
