This formula treats Lung and Kidney yin deficiency with heat from deficiency. Symptoms include coughing blood-streaked sputum, wheezing, dry sore throat, hot palms and soles, night sweats, red tongue with little coating, and a thin, rapid pulse. Yin deficiency leads to excess yang, causing heat that damages the Lungs and collaterals, producing cough, wheezing, and blood in the sputum.
