Aromatically Transform Turbidity • Clear Damp-Heat & Resolve Toxin
Aromatically Transform Turbidity • Clear Damp-Heat & Resolve Toxin
Symptoms
Turbid Fever: Fever that may not be high but is accompanied by an extreme sense of heaviness in the body and a "cloudy" or "heavy" head.
Digestive Oppression: Nausea, a complete lack of appetite, and a "stuffed" feeling in the epigastrium that makes eating impossible.
Sticky Sensory Markers: A persistent "greasy" or sweet taste in the mouth, sticky sweat, and a dry throat where the patient wants to gargle but not necessarily swallow large amounts of water.
Local Inflammation: Swollen, painful throat, "mumps-like" swelling of the glands, or red, weeping skin lesions.
Key Indicator: "Dampness Smothering Heat"—where the heat is trapped inside the dampness like a hot coal wrapped in a wet blanket. The heat cannot be cleared until the dampness is "shattered" aromatically.
Tongue: Red or pink body with a thick, yellow, and very greasy (oily) coating.
Pulse: Slippery (Hua) and rapid (Shu).

Description
Gan Lu Xiao Du San uses a sophisticated "Three-Pronged" approach to handle the "Sticky" nature of the pathogen:
The Aromatic "Shatterers" (Huo Xiang, Bai Dou Kou, Shi Chang Pu): These are the volatile oils. They act like a "solvent" that breaks up the thick, turbid dampness, allowing the heat-clearing herbs to actually reach the pathogen.
The Heat-Toxin Clearers (Huang Qin, Lian Qiao, She Gan): Once the dampness is broken, these herbs "extinguish" the fire in the Lungs, Throat, and Gallbladder. She Gan is particularly effective at "carving out" the toxin from the throat.
The Draining Exit (Yin Chen Hao, Hua Shi, Mu Tong): These herbs ensure the released damp-heat is flushed out through the urine. Yin Chen Hao is the specialist for "Jaundice-type" damp-heat, ensuring the bile and liver pathways are clear.
Posology
Granules
3 to 9g daily, divided into 2–3 doses, taken with warm water.
Raw Plants
Decoct in 1000ml of water. Note: Aromatic herbs like Bo He, Huo Xiang, and Bai Dou Kou should be added in the last 5 minutes of boiling to preserve their essential oils.
Spoons:
Our measuring spoons have an approximate capacity of 0.50 g. This should be taken into consideration when following the recommended dosage instructions for each product.
Cautions
Strictly contraindicated for Cold-Damp patterns (white tongue coating, no thirst, aversion to cold). This formula is very bitter and cold; it will freeze the Spleen if there isn't significant heat present. Not for long-term use, once the thick greasy coating on the tongue turns thin and white, the "Toxin" has been resolved, and the patient should switch to a Spleen-strengthening formula.
